Take Five: Daniel Radcliffe and The Woman in Black 3

Nov10

Britain has many talents. Three of which are taking part in Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows Part 1. It’s the movie millions have waited to see. This November, Harry Potter, Hermione Granger, and Ron Weasley are going out to fight evil Lord Voldemort. On summer 2011, all three of them will stop being witch and wizards. They will all seek their own path, hopefully, successfully getting out of the child-actor stage.

Rupert Grint who played Weasley, of course, had an early start with Thunderpants (2002) and Cherrybomb (2010). Emma Watson, now a Burberry model and a college student at Brown University, seemed to head in different directions. How about Daniel Radcliffe? We’ve heard him playing in Equus, half naked, and getting quite a positive review. But, aside from that, we haven’t seen him playing in anything significant yet.

He recently joined the cast of The Woman In Black. The plot summary is, “A young lawyer, Arthur Kipps (Radcliffe), who is ordered to travel to a remote village and sort out a recently deceased client’s papers. As he works alone in the client’s isolated house, Kipps begins to uncover tragic secrets, his unease growing when he glimpses a mysterious woman dressed only in black. Receiving only silence from the locals, Kipps is forced to uncover the true identity of the Woman in Black on his own, leading to a desperate race against time when he discovers her true intent.”

Here are some early footage of Daniel Radcliffe, not playing Harry Potter.

People believe Daniel Radcliffe got what it takes to avoid typecasting. People genuinely hoped that Harry Potter will not be the beginning and the end of him. We’ve seen him with his first breakthrough role when he was ten, and now, after watching him living half of his current life, it would be nice to see him some more. Off the glasses and the legendary scar, of course.

These are Five Things why we’d love to see Daniel Radcliffe in some other movies:

1. Man Up!

Jodie Foster, Christian Bale, and Drew Barrymore all started off as child actors. They did great now. Of course, many had failed to pass the transition. It’s always a hard process. When people have seen how cute you are in short pants with your bunny teeth, or seen how adorable you looked when you’re only three feet tall, it’s hard to make them think of you seriously.

We hope, Dan will take on some serious roles, and proved the world that he’s a respectable actor. The early footage of The Woman In Black showed a more mature Dan, in a very serious suit. He does kinda look like Hugh Jackman. I don’t know whether this is good or bad.

2. A Fresh Start

We don’t think Daniel Radcliffe wants to be known as, “the kid actor who played Harry Potter”. Of course, as an actor, he must have had a bigger vision of himself in the future. Britain has produced a good number of character actors, if Radcliffe’s career succeed, he might join the list with Lucius Malfoy, I mean, Jason Isaacs.

3. Good Looks

Most girls found Daniel Radcliffe good looking. Guys have to admit he’s not ugly. His dark hair, blue eyes, and killer British accent have mesmerized a lot of viewers. Of course, now we haven’t had a real clue of how Radcliffe would really look as a mature man. Will he be pretty? Will he be bulky and scary? Will he look like Bond guys from BC (Before Craig)? It would be nice to see his transformation on screen. We hope he’ll keep his good looks. And, if he decides to appear ugly, we hope it’s for a very very good role.

4. Fanatics

He has developed a fan base. Teenage girls, girls, older girls, even moms with little girls. Girls dig Potter, they love Daniel Radcliffe. If he played in a new movie, they will definitely go see it. Directors can’t wait to exploit his good looks, and female viewers cant wait to drool over him. Any producer knows this means money, a hell load of it. We hope that they will take it to a mutual benefit. Give him a good role, and let the chips roll. And of course, we hope it will not be a rom com.

5. Something To Look Forward To

To some people, Daniel Radcliffe is already their favorite actor. If he decides to take part in another project, these people will have something to wait for and talk about. And if he’s in some more movies, we’ll have more things to report. He’s happy, you’re happy, we’re happy. Wouldn’t that be great?

So, that’s it from Five Things. Look forward to more news from your favorite child actors. When they failed? Well, grow out of it, people.

it’s difficult to see him without that scar and boyish smile, though

@Opa Iman: Hihi, kayaknya sih bakal oke-oke aja. Toh bentar lagi suara dan mukanya bakal berubah drastis. Yang jelas pilih perannya kudu yang bener.

@Opa Brad: From what I’ve witnessed through dear Google image search, Dan is no longer that boy who lived, LOL. No, I mean the boyish look is starting to disappear and without the glasses, it would be easy to separate him from the Potter character. ;) )
